Cinco De Mayo

I agree mostly with this video that social media and technology is taking away our lives. This goes without saying that it takes away from actually being social at all. People would much rather talk on Facebook or Twitter than they would with that same person in actuality. However, I disagree with the part that it can take your whole life away. Yes, you may miss an opportunity to find someone like at the end if he hadn't had his phone, yet there are infinite amounts of ways for people to meet someone that they spend their life with. I also find it ironic that his message is being sent through a social media site when his whole message is against it. Furthermore, it is also ironic that our responses are being typed up onto a "social site". But, yes, I do agree that when it comes to technology the word "social" actually means the exact opposite of its name and its intentions.

What is a 'splash page'? Look it up. Explain what they are and how they are used. Find an example of a splash page in Google Images. Save the image to you computer and then upload it to your blog post. Hint - see below.

A splash page is a image that appears while a program is loading, or, more relevant to us, it is an introduction page to a website. This is seen on most websites that are professionally designed. Splash pages are supposed to capture the viewers attention and draw them into the website so they will explore it instead of leaving the site. Splash pages usually are shown before the home page, and when it is clicked on, directs the viewer to the home page.  They also have other functions such as advertising and providing information about the site or topic prior to the home page.

Status update! Tell me where  you are at on your product website? Can you be finished by tomorrow at the end of the hour? Do you need more time? How much more time? Be honest and explain yourself.

I'm very close to being finished. All I have left is a few pages to complete. All of the pages are linked up but I just need to add a few finishing touches. I should be completed by the end of today or tomorrow.

Welcome back! How was your Spring Break? Tell me all about it. You've been out of school for 10 days so I know you will have plenty to share. Make it good!

Over Spring Break I did not go anywhere; I stayed in Kansas. I mostly cleaned up, practiced for the Solo and Ensemble festival and relaxed. I got in lots of sleep and finished a few books I'd been reading. I did hang out with friends a lot and tossed a disc (Frisbee) and played ultimate so I could practice for Spring League with the Kansas City Ultimate League. More recently I just watched a bunch of basketball and cheered for my teams.

Do you like the layout of this project? Have you benefited from your brainstorming sheet? Was it more helpful or annoying when starting to map out your website? Explain why.

I do like the layout of this project. The brainstorming sheet helped me to plan out the website before we even started. On previous projects I planned out the website while I was constructing it. This helps me know what I need where, when I need it, and how to get it there. It also just helps me as a guide while making the website. It was a bit annoying, but in the long run it is definitely helpful.

After reading below to see where you should be on your product website - are you caught up? What helps you stay caught up in class? Do you like having small checkpoints? Are you behind? If so, what are you going to do to get caught up?

I am caught up. To stay caught up in class I work hard to get that day's work done and maybe a little more if I can. That way I am ahead of the game when we learn something new or do something that might take more time. I do like having small checkpoints because that is how I base my estimate of what I should get done for the day on. I am not behind, except maybe with the footer, but it won't take long.

What idea do you have that is going to make you product website different, unique or unlike anyone else? If you're answer is you don't know - it's time to start THINKING. Explain your idea.

For starters, I doubt that anybody will be doing a website for ultimate or disc golf. Secondly I will use a neat layout and color scheme that invites and draws in viewers. The navigation will be very easy to use, and the navigation bar will break into subcategories for the navigation bar.
